About me
Resting Bubs: Nurturing Tranquil Slumber with Compassion, Expertise, and Affection.
Hi, my name is Bronwyn
From a young age I have always had a passion for children and often found myself being the designated family and friends’ babysitter. Like a lot of first-time expecting mums, I thought my experiences babysitting my nieces and nephews would have prepared me for the challenges that my future as a parent may consist of. While this was true in some cases as I considered myself a pro with the explosive diaper changes, breaking of the endless winds and even the horrendous projectile vomits. Nothing could have truly prepared me for the endless sleepless nights which soon turned into weeks and before I knew it, my husband and I were a few months into parenthood and felt like sleep was a luxury of the past.
A few of my friends recommended we give sleep training a try and like most mums who have never thoroughly done their research on sleep training, I was not prepared to let him cry himself to sleep without intervening, that just sounded horrible. A few more months had passed by, and the lack of sleep had started to take a serious toll on my mental health, my marriage and my ability to be the best mum to our son, Mikaeel. A few friends and family members told me that I just need to give it time and his sleep will get better, but the more time went by it just seemed to be getting worse.
I finally caved and realised that in order to get the sleep my whole family so deeply needed, we weren’t going to achieve this on our own, so being very sceptical and sleep deprived I reached out to a local sleep consultant whom some friends had recommended. All it took was the initial 15minutes of our consultation where I realised, I had a very naïve and uneducated perspective on sleep training.
Within a few days there was a drastic change in Mikaeels sleep quality and I finally felt like myself again. It felt amazing to be a present mum in comparison to the past few months I’d spent being a zombie version of myself looking forward to the next moment I could rest instead of taking in the precious moments of my sons first weeks of life. Having a baby that slept well, meant that he thrived in other aspects, and it created a much more pleasant family dynamic too.
It was in those moments of my newfound gratitude for sleep that I developed a desire to want to help and educate other mothers that might have faced the same struggles as I did. So, with my limited knowledge I began to advocate for healthy sleeping habits within my community and within a few weeks I looked into becoming a certified Sleep Consultant. I truly believe that my struggles have led me to pursue not just a career but a passion for helping other mothers get their little-one sleeping well. After all, a rested baby equals a rested mum who can be the best version of herself.
